Meet our Board of Directors!
All members of the ESPSC Board of Directors serve on a volunteer basis, dedicating their time and expertise to support the success of the club. These individuals play a vital role in shaping the club's operations, making key decisions, and ensuring a welcoming and well-organized environmnet for skaters, families, and coahces.
Board members are elected annually by club members at the Annual General Meetng for ESPSC. Meetings for the club are held monthly to discuss key initiatives and ensure smooth operations. The Board of Directors dedication helps strenghthen the club's mission, fostering growth, community involvement, and a love for skating at all levels!

The Board of Directors is responsible for the club's overall direction, strategic planning, and performance monitoring, ensuring alignment with Skate Canada's vision and values.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
Executive | Description |
President |
Leads the board by facilitating monthly meetings, coordinating schedules and agendas in consultation with the Secretary, and overseeing the approval of plans, budgets, and policies. They act as the primary liaison with arena management, Skate Canada, and other clubs, addressing operational concerns. Additionally, the President handles major conflict resolution, responds to inquiries, and works closely with the Program Coordinator to manage coaching staff, registrations, and contractual agreements. |
Vice President | Supports the leadership and operations of the club and assumes President's responsibilities when necessary. They oversee the scheduling and planning of the Annual General Meeting, and respond to inquiries. |
Treasurer |
Oversees the club's financial health by monitoring the budget and advising the Board on financial matters during monthly meetings. They handle transactions not processed by Uplifter. Additionally, the Treasurer prepares the annual operating budget, maintains financial records, and provides financial statements as needed. At the AGM, a report is presented for transparency. They work closely with the President and Program Coordinator to help plan and budget programs to support the club's ongoing success. |
Secretary |
Serves as the club's record keeper, managing meeting minutes, correspondence, and essential documentation. They ensure timely updates to board records, distribute key information and maintain club resources. Additionally, they coordinate AGM notices, organize contact lists, and support board operations by scheduling meetings and sending reminders. |

Description |
Assessment Coordinator |
Oversees the planning and execution of assessment days, ensuring compliance with Skate Canada rules and coordinating evaluators, schedules, and logistics. They liaise with club coaches, manage assessment-related finances, and submit results to Skate Canada. Additionally, they track and update skaters' assessment records and organize recognition awards for skaters. |
Volunteer Coordinator |
Plays a key role in promoting, recruiting, and organizing volunteer opportunities. They collaborate with the Board to identify needs and prepare monthly reports. They oversee various volunteer roles and coordinate events. |
Social Media Coordinator |
Oversees updates to the club's website and social media platforms, responds to inquiries, and collaborates with the Program Coordinator and President as needed. Additionally, they create promotional materials, publicize club activities, and provide regular updates to members. They strengthen community involvement and keep members connected and up-to-date on club events and programs. |
Members at Large |
A voting member(s) whose responsibilities vary based on the club's needs and direction from other board members. They provide flexible support, attend monthly meetings, and step into roles as needed. |

Program Coordinator |
A paid position hired by the Board of Directors to oversee all aspects of the club's skating programs, including CanSkate, PowerSkate, Advanced CanSkate, all STARSkate programs, Adult Skate, and Intro to Synchro programs. They manage scheduling, registration, and communications while ensuring compliance with Skate Canada regulations. Responsibilities include coordinating and hiring coaches, training Program Assistants, maintaining skater records, and assisting with organizing assessment days, competitions, and special events. Additionally, they liaise with arena management, oversee budgeting, and ensure the club's programming runs smoothly to support skaters at all levels. |
How to get involved:
Board members are elected annually at the club's Annual General Meeting (AGM). If you're interested but unsure about the roles and responsibilities, consider applying as a Member at Large. This position allows you to observe board operations, gain insight into decision-making, and learn how the Board of Directors supports the club - all while actively contributing in a flexible capacity.
