Podium Pathway Competitions:
Podium Pathway is geared towards competitive skaters who want to compete at the Provincial, National, or International level in Singles, Pairs, and Dance.
The Podium Pathway Levels are:
- Pre-Juvenile
- Juvenile
- Pre-Novice
- Novice
- Junior
- Senior
These events are stepping stones to things such as the National Team, World, and Olympic Teams.
Skaters who compete in Podium Pathway also take tests in Skate Canada's STAR Skate program.
These events are limited by age and test requirements. Skaters who do not meet the requirements are unable to compete at the desired level.
All events receive a ranked placement with the top three receiving medals.
Adult Skate Competitive:
Adult Skate offers the ability to compete at invitational, interclub, and international competitions.
Adult Skate Competitions Include:
- Programs
- Ice Dance
- Pairs FreeSkate
- Artistic
- Showcase
- Synchro

STAR Skate Competitions:
STAR Skate offers the ability to compete at invitational and interclub competitions.
STAR Skate Competitions Include:
- Elements (STAR 1 - Gold)
- Programs (STAR 2 - Gold)
- Artistic (STAR 5, 7, 9, & Gold)
- Showcase (Level 1 -4)
- Team Events (STAR 2 - Gold)
- Improv (Level 1 - 4)
- Ice Dance Pairs (STAR 2 - Diamond)
- Ice Dance Solo (STAR 2 - Gold)
- Pairs FreeSkate (STAR 3 & STAR 5)
- Synchro (STAR 3, 4, 6, 8, Gold)
These events are not limited by age. Skaters can move up through the levels at their own pace.
STAR 1-3 single receive a Gold, Silver, or Bronze ribbon based on their performance.
STAR 4 - Gold single receives a ranked placement with the top three receiving medals.
CanSkate Competitions:
CanSkate offers a variety of competition opportunities for all CanSkate levels (Stage 1 - 6).
CanSkate Competitions Include:
- Creative Improv
- Element
- Team Event
CanSkate Element event coaches will assist skaters on the ice in the practice area. Skaters will perform skills on the performance circuit following a demonstrator.
All stages receive a Gold, Silver, or Bronze ribbon based on their performance.
!!Can be performed in both hockey and figure skates!!

What to do when arriving at competitions: |
- Sneakers for warm-up. - Off-ice equipment (jump rope, spinner, stretch band, roller, yoga mat, etc.) - Spare tights/socks - Hockey tape, spare laces - Warm-up jacket, gloves - Skating dress or performance outfit (Including a backup) - Copy of Music (On USB) - Hairspray, hair ties, scrunchies, bobby pins - Make-up - Water and healthy snacks - Blanket and comfy clothes - Medication (Inhaler, epi-pen, etc.) - Helmet (CanSkate) - SMILE!! 😊 |
- Arrive an hour before your event (as events can run ahead of schedule) - Find the registration desk and check-in - Locate your dressing room and drop off bags. NEVER leave your skates unattended, bring them with you everywhere! - Find your coach, if they didn’t find you when registering. Wait around the check-in table or your dressing room for them - Off-ice warm-up/preparation: PLEASE NOTE: you compete how you practice; the following exercises should be done before every practice when possible so there is as little change in routine as possible - Start with stretches to loosen up - Cardio to warm up and get the blood flowing - Jogging, skipping, hops, grape vines, jump rope, plyo-lunge-jumps, etc. - Jump and spin warm-up - Program walk through - Check the ice and determine where you start your program - Perform a mental run-through of your program
